Southern Oven Foods Inc, owned and operated by Patricia Griffith, was born at the Pacific Coast Farmers Market in Northern California. Patricia spent 2 years selling "Mercy's Homemade Monkey Bread" a cherished recipe from her grandmother and it became an instant hit with the locals. Soon thereafter followed cakes and pies. Each of the desserts is an heirloom recipe from previous generations using only the freshest and finest ingredients! Popular desserts include home-made Caramel Pecan Pie, Sweet Potato Pie, Lemon Chess Pie, Texas Chocolate Cake, Seven-up Cake, and many more.

During her success at the Farmers Market, Patricia parlayed her baked delights into retail success. Now, her expanding line of products can be found on the shelves of Northern California gourmet retailers. View retail locations.

In February of 2004 Patricia faced the growing demand for a larger kitchen. Unable to find an affordable commercial baking space she decided to open a restaurant, serving southern traditional favorites such as Louisiana Catfish, Gumbo, Jambalaya, and her critically acclaimed Southern Fried Chicken. The restaurant also offered her a way to showcase her pies and cakes.

Southern Oven restaurant soon became a popular spot featuring live music and scrumptious Sunday Brunch. Surprised to have found a following among Walnut Creek, CA locals longing for the old Southern recipes, Patricia was frequently asked to cook and bake for larger and larger groups of people.

As demand for her catering grew her need for a large commercial space became imminent. With only so many hours in the day, the restaurant was closed. Now Patricia is customizing a commercial kitchen where she can easily facilitate the demands of her retail product line, while catering small and large parties.

Recently, her pies and cakes were picked up by Columbus Distributing to expand availability in grocery stores throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and growing into other areas of Northern California.
